we stand for this generation and the next!

Mid-Worcestershire & the Vale
GREEN PARTY

Since 1979 the Green Party has held a strong presence in Mid-Worcestershire and the Vale, fighting to create a sustainable society that meets everyone's basic needs for health, safe food and water, clean air, housing, energy, education, an income, leisure, and for a caring community, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
Now, at a time when the gap between the rich and poor is wider than ever, when years of austerity politics have crippled local services, and when humankind's undeniable impact upon our amazing planet has left us facing an environmental crisis, we believe that the bold alternative that the Green Party offers is needed more than ever.

Our local green manifesto
01
our countryside & the Environment
We believe in protecting green spaces, leading the fight against air pollution, and in supporting local organic farming practices.
Nationally the Green Party intends to create a million green jobs as part of a shift to an ‘electricity-based society’. Locally we support industries that deliver energy efficiency and renewables and embrace the new opportunities that come with reforestation, mass-recycling, and climate change adaption.
We are completely reliant on our environment and we have to protect it at all levels. The Green Party has the policies to ensure this generation and future generations have the resources to lead sustainable lifestyles.

people &
communities
Mental & Physical Health and Social Care
The Green Party favours an effective, preventative approach to health care, making changes that support healthy lifestyles and the development of a clean urban environment with reduced pollution and increased access to public transport.
Nationally the Green Party continues to campaign for the NHS to be fully public and supports the NHS Reinstatement Bill. Locally this means fighting for local hospitals and increases in funding to ensure adequate provision of mental health resources and social care for all.
Youth and Education
A progressive force seeking long-term change, the Green Party recognises that by supporting families and providing free-at-the-point-of-delivery education to children and young adults, we are investing in our future.
03
Housing &
Transport
Responsible Development and Preservation of the Green Belt
We should all have a safe, affordable, secure and warm place to call home. The Green Party will tackle the causes of the housing crisis: giving renters a fair deal, making social housing widely available and bringing the housing market under control. We intend to support responsible development and the development of affordable, zero carbon homes.
Energy Efficient Homes
We believe that there is an immediate requirement for existing housing to be fully insulated and fitted with energy-efficiency and renewable devices by local energy cooperatives. This one change would save people hundreds of pounds on their energy bills whilst creating jobs in the local economy.
Transport
The Green Party intends to deliver excellent public transport and a road network that will better serve people with disabilities, pedestrians, cyclists, freight, and cars. We believe that it is essential that plans be made and implemented to help deal with problems such as congestion and the pollution it causes.
04
business &
local economy
Investing in Community Renewal
Councils have a key role to play in providing caring, high quality services to local people; a role that has been undermined by savage short-termist cuts inflicted by austerity governments. The Green Party intends to restore local government budgets, creating good quality local employment. We will give Councils new powers to set local charges and access borrowing, allowing them to spearhead the renewal of their communities and restore invaluable services lost during the long years of austerity.
Giving Small Businesses a Competitive Break
Small businesses will benefit from a new community banking network, with a people’s bank for every city and region tasked with lending at fair rates to small businesses to help them grow. A sovereign wealth fund will be created to capture some of the financial gains that large corporations make, and will be used to fund further investment in small businesses and in sustainable job creation. Business rates will be abolished and replaced by our proposed developer’s duty, which will reduce bills for small businesses.
Bringing Railways and Buses into Community hands
We will bring railways and bus routes back into public ownership, reducing fares and giving rail workers, passenger groups, and local authorities a far greater say on how services are run.
